
Sing Freedom – The Songs - Thursday 29 November 2007 7.30pm Leicester Guildhall Kainé Gospel Choir and friends came together for an evening celebrating Negro Spirituals to mark the Bicentenary of the Abolition of the Slave Act. Songs such as The Gospel Train, Wade in the Water and Swing Low Sweet Chariot were among the songs sung. Guest performances included Carol Leeming, Una May Olomolaiye. Over 100 people attended from varying ages and backgrounds. The feedback was very positive and included the following comments:

- sincere without being sombre
- Very moving
With the launch of the Sing Freedom website, completed workshops and presentation of the findings, there will be a culmination event to celebrate the project and a chance to once again view the exhibition and a performance of the work completed during the workshops.
